Amish Peace

Title: AMISH PEACE: Simple Wisdom for a Complicated World
Author: Suzanne Woods Fisher
Publisher: Revell
October 2009
ISBN: 978-0-8007-3338-4
Genre: Inspirational/nonfiction

Americans are fascinated by the Amish. Their quiet lifestyle, in the middle of our hectic worlds has us turning our heads—not only just ‘gawking’ at those who are different, but in envy. What would it be like to live in their world? Amish fiction is some of the most sought after on the market, as we soak up every tidbit about the Amish that we can.

But how can we emulate their peace without giving up our cars, modern clothing, and conveniences?

In AMISH PEACE, Ms. Fisher shows us that we don’t have to become Amish to make personal peace a reality. Organized around five central themes in Amish life, AMISH PEACE shows how you can cultivate a simple life of love, gratitude, and faith, in the midst of our world.

AMISH PEACE includes real-life stories and examples from the Amish, proverbs, and fascinating facts about Amish communities.

I admit to being one of many fascinated by the Amish. I enjoy poking through Amish stores, looking for buggies when we go through an Amish community, and reading all the Amish themed books I can get my hands on. I’m also interested in learning more about them because my agent suggested that I try to write an Amish themed book. (I am working on it.) So I was very interested in reading this book, and learning more about the Amish.

If you enjoy reading about the Amish and want to learn more about them and their lifestyle, or if you want to learn to duplicate their peace into your own life, then pick up a copy of AMISH PEACE. You will be glad you did. Discussion questions are included at the end of each chapter, as well as suggestions on how to work some of the ideas into your own life. $12.99. 218 pages.

The book was sent to me by Christian Bookworm Reviews for review purposes only. I have received no compensation for writing the review.
