Based on the bestselling The Beginner's Bible brand, The Beginner's Bible: Kid-Sized Devotions is perfect for children 6 and under. The simple connections to scripture make the content relevant and understandable for young readers, while the colorful illustrations are sure to be a delight. Each of the 365 devotions has a theme to which the Scripture, story, and art relate. It's the perfect starting point for children as they develop a stronger relationship with God, to cuddle-up with parents or enjoy at church or daycare.

My thoughts:  This devotional is perfect for the just-learning-to-read set .Short, it is easy for the beginning reader to read and understand. I liked that it went all the way through the Bible, starting in Genesis and ending in Revelations.

We read devotions every day as a family, taking turns with everyone having one day a week to read. My youngest handled this devotional with ease, and seemed proud to have her own devotional to read from instead of stumbling over harder words in the adult devotions.

Recommended for parents, caregivers, Christian schools and preschools, as well as church libraries.

Thankful, by bestselling and award-winning children’s author Eileen Spinelli, combines charming rhymes and whimsical illustrations to convey the importance of being thankful for everyday blessings. Like the gardener thankful for every green sprout, and the fireman, for putting the fire out, readers are encouraged to be thankful for the many blessings they find in their lives. Spinelli exhibits her endearing storytelling with this engaging poem, reminding children how blessed and special they are. Meant to be read aloud, this heartwarming picture book will be a treasured keepsake for parents and children alike.

My thoughts:  This is a really cute children's books. Whimsical drawings featuring children doing different activities, playing at different careers, reminding children to be thankful for different things that you never think of thanking God for, such as a waitress, a farmer, a firefighter, and more. It also mentions things they might be thankful for, such as a birder is thankful to discover a new bird, the pastor, for sharing God's holy word.

I really enjoyed this book and think it would be great for children's ministries, preschools, and Christian schools as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday. It reminds kids of more to be thankful for. Also recommended for libraries, both secular and church. Also perfect for a Thanksgiving day gift for your favorite child.  Recommended.
