One Two Three, Eyes on Me by Jenna V. Hilton

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Matthew 6:13 (KJV)

My dog, Skye, hates squirrels. They are not welcome any time. It’s not been confirmed, but it is believed that she has “de-tailed” a couple.

When she’s racing back and forth in front of the back yard shed, guarding both openings of the cement blocks acting as steps to the shed, we just know Skye trapped a squirrel. And when that dog is fixated on something, you have to use every muscle to get her away from it.

We’re like that sometimes too. We see something “fun” that we shouldn’t be doing but our friends are, and we think, “well, one time won’t hurt.” Before we know it, we’re stuck and have to ask God to get us out. We need to ask God for the strength to resist temptation.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us even when we get in trouble, when we do things that we know we shouldn’t. Give us the strength and the presence of mind to avoid the things. In Jesus Name, Amen

Jenna V. Hilton is seventeen, and lives in Arkansas with her parents, two sisters, and dog. She is a senior in high school and planning to attend college to become a veterinarian.
