Enduring Love

Title: ENDURING LOVE
Author: Bonnie Leon
Publisher: Revell
May 2009
ISBN: 978-0-8007-3178-6
Genre: Inspirational/historical

John and Hannah Bradshaw have worked hard to make a good life for themselves following their being shipped to Australia as criminals. Now they have a sheep farm in South Wales and they have an adopted son. Everything is perfect, until they go on holiday and find John’s wife, Margaret, a woman John has believed dead.

After all the treachery Margaret has done, John hates her and he wants a divorce, but Margaret weaves a heart rendering tale, and with divorces hard to get, with her story, it will be next to impossible. But without a divorce, John’s marriage to Hannah is a sham.

Will John be able to prove that Margaret is a liar and gain his divorce, or will he and Hannah be forced to give up their idyllic life together?

ENDURING LOVE is the conclusion of Ms. Leon’s Sydney Cove series. Its been awhile since I read the first book in the series, and I didn’t get the opportunity to read the second, but I quickly caught on to what was happening in this story. However, I would recommend that readers do begin at the beginning with To Love Anew, and book two Longings of the Heart.

I enjoyed reconnecting with Hannah and John, though sometimes it is difficult to read what the characters are forced to endure. I learned a lot about how England disposed of their criminals (innocent or not) in this series, and am glad to learn that they were able to make a life “down under.” Readers of historical fiction will not want to miss the Sydney Cove series, or this final book in the collection, ENDURING LOVE. $12.99. 299 pages.
