Akira MacKenzie was kidnapped on her wedding day by Bryce MacPhearson. Akira had been promised to marry the MacPhearson clan chief, but Bryce’s brother, the chief is hesitant to keep promises his now deceased father made. So he refused Akira as bride. Akira chose to marry a friend, a clansman, but someone she doesn’t love instead, but he said he couldn’t marry her.

Akira is frightened and angry when Bryce kidnaps her. He intends to force his brother to keep his promise to the MacKenzie clan and their father, but Bryce wants Akira for himself. When his brother is killed in a disput between the MacPhearsons and the MacKenzies, Bryce forces Akira’s hand into marriage.

But—is this enough to end a half-century-old feud between the two clans? Or is the anger and resentment going to continue despite Bryce’s efforts?

HIGHLAND BLESSINGS is the debut novel by Jennifer Hudson Taylor, but it won’t be her last. The story is engaging, with realistic characters and events that might have happened in Scotland in 1473.

Akira is spunky with a red-headed temper, and Bryce is a warrior, and as the son of a chief, used to getting his way. He doesn’t know how to relate to women other than to boss them around, something Akira wasn’t prepared to take. Much conflict. There are several bloody battle scenes. If you like Scottish historical romances with strong heroes and heroines, then you won’t want to miss HIGHLAND BLESSINGS. Discussion questions are included at the end of the book. $13.99. 300 pages.
