Uncertain Hearts

Title: UNCERTAIN HEART
Author: Andrea Boeshaar
Publisher: Realms
October 2010
ISBN: 978-1-61638-023-6
Genre: Inspirational/historical

Sarah McCabe has dreams of being a music teacher in Chicago. But when she gets there, she finds the position has been filled. At a loss what to do, she applies for a job as a nanny in Milwaukee, and moves to Wisconsin.

The four children are delightful, and Richard Navis is a big help. He’s determined to finish his indentureship to Captain Sinclair and then run the family farm. But the Captain is determined to keep him on. He needs him in many areas, and one of them is to help take care of Sarah. Not that Richard minds.

Richard can’t help but be captivated by the lovely Sarah, but he fears she might fall in love with the Captain. He has everything she wants. And she wants nothing that Richard holds dear. What will it take for Richard to win Sarah’s heart?

UNCERTAIN HEART is the second book in Ms. Boeshaar’s Season of Redemption series, but it easily stands alone. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book of the series, but UNCERTAIN HEART won my heart and I read through the entire book in a day.

Sarah, Richard, the children, and even the crusty German housekeeper had their own unique personalities and I couldn’t help but fall in love with them. Toward the end the story started dragging a bit and some of the events seemed a bit contrived to give length to the book, but otherwise it was a good read. I’m giving it 5 stars because 4.5 isn’t one of my options. $12.99. 295 pages.
